Woke up at 11:30 today. Decided to book a tour to get out of the city and explore different regions. The tour guide was coming to our guest stay at 2:30 so we had few hours to kill. With kate waking up early she already had breakfast and shower, but I hadn’t. With the free breakfast already finished, I decided to make myself some 2 minute noodles for breaky. We played scrabble for like 5 minutes and enrolled for next year. At 2 we were both hungry so we went around the corner to a DimSum place. It was so good. Then we came back and the tour guide was waiting for us. The tour guide was very good as he explained things quite well. He drove us through the city into the villages (what we call suburbs). Our destination was the “Buta Cave” which was a muslim place of worship. Going past an industrial area we arrived and there was this tall gold monument of one of the gods (gold painted). This was at the base of the cave. To get inside the cave it was necessary to climb over 200 stairs. On and around the stairs were monkeys and we were very careful with our stuff because the tour guide told us that they are known to steal stuff and try to take your bag. After the exhausting climb, we made it to this big opening of the cave. Inside there was water dripping from the ceiling and was nice and cool. Scattered through the cave was statues of the muslims gods, like the elephant with many arms. There were muslims in their playing music and preparing their gods for the ceremony at night. On returning to ground level we could see that the monkeys were very distressed and people screaming. We were like what the hell is happening here. It seemed that the monkeys were attacking people at the bottom mosics. Then people ran from the mosics holding a baby monkey, then we realised that they were teasing the monkeys. This went on for a while then they gave the monkey back.
From here the tour guide took us to a peuta (silver metal) place which pretty much was just a shop trying to sell us stuff. Thought it was going to be a bit more educational but guess not. We did not buy anything from them. Going back into the city we went past a mosic with more wonderful statues of their gods. We got out and our tour guide explained more about there religion and practises. It was very interesting to see how their religion works and their beliefs. It is quite different to Christianity. After 4 hours or so we were dropped back to our house. We had dinner then decided to go clubbing.
Before we could go clubbing Kate needed a bag to put some of her stuff in. We went to the markets and haggled haggled haggled. We went to this girl and she was explaining all the best clubs to go to. After her sweet talk her asking price for a bag was outrageous. Finally using her calculator we got a reasonable price and bought it.
Clubs in Malaysia are similar to Australia but the not. There was a cover charge at all clubs (around 30 RMB) and you receive a “free” drink. The Beach club was the first club we went too but after told we had to pay 30 RMB each to get in we thought forget it. Next club we went to had free entry for girls and they get a drink and was 25 RMB for guys without a drink. Due to our indecisiveness the bouncer let us both in for free. Inside the club was pretty we done up. R&B music was playing and no one was dancing. Kate got her free drink and we try dancing but was too awkward without anyone else dancing and so we decided to try the next club. The next club was a lot better. Although the cover charge was 30RMB for me we both got a free drink so it was ok. Inside was so fancy and all the Asians were dancing. We started dancing straight away. All the Asians were DDRing and the pulled me into the middle of their circle so I can show them my moves. I just laughed and quickly pulled kate in and I moved out. Drinks are so expensive there and you buy them by the bottle. A bottle of vodka like 300RMB. We didn’t buy any drinks. There is someone in the toilet that turns the taps on for you, hands you a towel and opens the door for you. Feel like royalty. We stumbled home at around 2ish then went to the same place we went for lunch for some food and headed home. It was another eventful day :D
